Artwork can be tricky to photograph yourself. Getting the lighting consistent, colours correct, angles straight, with enough detail (and without unwanted reflections) can be impossible without specialist equipment. If you are looking to create quality reproduction prints of your paintings, accuracy is paramount.

Every artwork acts slightly differently in front of camera, due to brush strokes, texture, the materials used and the condition of the piece. Non-standard materials like gold leaf can be a real headache to photograph with natural light.
At Lux we use a myriad of lighting tools and techniques, which we manually tweak for each artwork. Using a sturdy tripod and an easel, artwork is photographed as straight as possible. And as we photograph, the photos are send straight through a laptop so we can see how the artwork looks in detail, and make adjustment where necessary.
The end result is a digital copy that is adjusted for hues and tonality, and is completed straight. If your artwork is older and dusty, this can be corrected. If your artwork is behind glass, that’s not an issue either!
Some basic editing is included to remove large dust spots, creases or tears. Some artworks require separate images to be taken and then merged to get the most accurate result. If your artwork needs some serious retouching, this can also be requested at an additional cost.

The final image will be between 20 and 30 megapixels, depending on the shape of your artwork.
Costings:
We charge £50+VAT for the first artwork, and £20+VAT for each additional artwork included as part of the same session.
This includes basic colour correction, straightening, and touch-up of spots/blemishes. Any unusual editing requests will be an additional charge, so please contact us if you have any additional edit requests
