Atomic Stained Glass
Atomic Stained Glass, by Stephanie Stump
Stephanie has a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art. She has made a living designing within the print industry in Leicester followed by a career designing for a Marketing Department here in Birmingham.
While learning the basics of stained glass she discovered how much she loves this medium and has been developing her own style and growing her knowledge ever since by experimentation. Skills learned while completing her degree have been instrumental in this development.
The majority of Stephanie’s stained glass is hand painted. Each painted piece of glass is kiln-fired over night for permanence. Glass is then either copper foiled (Tiffany technique) or leaded together to create finished panels which are gloriously colourful. These traditional techniques haven’t changed for hundreds of years.
She creates a variety of window art from tiny suncatchers to larger panels which can be displayed attached to windows or in front of pale walls and takes commissions for fitted stained glass panels. She has been commissioned to create stained glass pieces for customers in America, Canada, Ireland and all over the UK. Pet portraits, flowers and landscapes are regular requests.
She is obsessed with the moon and regularly depicts this within British Landscapes. Other regular imagery are animals indigenous to the British Isles and mythological characters.
