Nicky Chubb

Nicky Chubb, British, 1969

Nicky’s work is essentially optimistic; whether painting flowers or the sea, the emotions she aims to convey are hope and happiness. The trees, big skies and hardy heathland flowers of the countryside around her home are a particular inspiration, and she tries to capture a sense of air and movement as she paints.

She originally trained as a designer (BA hons Fashion, Central St Martins 1993) and the influence of her love of textiles can be seen in her use of colour, texture
and pattern.

Another longstanding interest, in contrast to her impressionistic and free paintings, is life drawing. Nicky is a firm believer in the importance of drawing, and organizes a life drawing group near her home. All her figurative work is in mixed media, either quick, gestural ink drawings or multi-layered pieces incorporating collage when time allows.

Nicky exhibits in art galleries and at art fairs across the UK and in Europe, and her paintings are held in private collections around the world.
