Original painting by Birmingham-based artist Robbie Jeffcott, depicting nightlife scenes in the legendary Anchor Pub, Digbeth, Birmingham.

This limited series of paintings explores ‘belonging’ through the lens of Birmingham’s pub culture — a space where the working class heroes find connection and community. More than places to drink, these pubs act as informal sanctuaries, offering warmth, stories, and solidarity to those often overlooked.

These paintings were created in collaboration with Birmingham-based photographer Jake Phillips, using his photographs as a reference.

Robbie says “I have included subtle nods and symbolism to highlight Birminghams creative community, people who I have met through being in these environments. Individuals who, like me, are driven by a shared search for connection, identity, and a sense of belonging.”
